I’ve been thinking a lot about dashboards recently and wanted to use processing to create a “stock tool” – something to grab real-time stock data for a company and display it in an interesting way.
I imagined a dashboard in a company lobby or an office, showing critical details about a stock. I’m not a stock guru, so it’s an experiment, not a source of stock advice…
This widget updates from Google Finance every minute or so. It grabs the latest price, yesterday’s close, and the delta between the two. The bubbles fall if they are trending down from yesterday and up if the opposite. The colors also help illustrate the trend.
This one is a download rather than an embed because of some technical limitations. I’ve put the application here for Windows/Mac/Linux, so that everyone can take a look.
